September 1682: From the Submission's log which survives in part sailing from Liverpool England, the passengers having embarked the day before.The voyage was a stormy one and as a result the vessel came into Chesapeake Bay rather than into Delaware.The passengers arrived at Choptank, on the eastern shore of Maryland on 29 Nov 1682 and news of their arrival certainly reached Penn before the end of the year.Most of the passengers made their way to Appoquiminy Creek, twenty miles south of New Castle, by mid February 1683.Also on the Submission was Ellis Jones age 45 from Denby or Flint.With him came his wife, Jane, aged 40, and children Barbara 13, Dorothy 10, Isaac 4 months, and Mary Jones, 12.They were servants of the Proprietor.Ellis Jones was Penn's miller.Probably for his services he was granted a warrant for a city lot 174m 1683 and acquired land in Chester County.He was a Pilgrim
