This Nichols family is large and over the years stayed close together. Beginning in North Carolina, Tennessee, Johnson County, Illinois, Wright and Webster County, Missouri, Arkansas, Indian Territory (Oklahoma)and Fannin and Grayson County, Texas large families were always closeby. These names are only a small part of my maternal and paternal relatives. Many of the stories about some individuals were written by my dad, Earl Washington Nichols when he was over seventy years of age. He always believed that the family and the value placed on it was high. Raising three sons and always stressing education, we all went off to graduate from different colleges at a time when the family resources would indicate that it was an impossibility. He liked to use the term "My Three Sons". He was proud to be a Scottish Rite Mason and so we all three joined him at the Mcalester Consistory. He and Mother were always supportive of us in all endeavors. We grew up knowing our grand parents and being close to many relatives. I would say that ours is an average American family that lived through some difficult and some wonderful times together. Never having much, we have each other and I guess thats all you can ask for. |
