Our family search began in 1978. The Nichols Family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania began prior to the Revolutionary War. The Porter's have been traced from SE Pennsylvania to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in the early 1800's. They then moved south into the Columbia, South Carolina area where many live today. The Forte and Nicosia branches came to the U.S. in the early 1900's and settled in the Philadelphia, Penna. area. Many are there today and others have moved to southern New Jersey. |
