I am researching the family of Robert Nicholson, born in Surry County Virginia in 1629 and died in Charles City County about 1670.He was of Scottish descent but his father, George, was born in England.I do not know when he arrived in this country but he married Sarah Lee in 1653 or 1654.He died in Charles City County, Virginia about 1670.I have a great deal of information that I would like to fill in and, or course, I will share all the information that I have. Robert and Sarah had three sons, James, our ancestor born 1654, Robert, born about 1660 and George, born in 1666 all in Charles City County, Virginia.In 1676, James Nicholson married in Surry County, Virginia, Elizabeth Gray, daughterof Francis Gray.In 1683, his brother, Robert Nicholson married Mrs. Mary Gray, widow of John Gray.In 1688, his brother George Nicholson married Mrs. Mary Bird, widow of Thomas Bird.Robert had a second marriage to Hannah _____ and a third to Mrs. Joanna Joyce Flood, widow of Henry Flood. Our James Nicholson's brothers Robert and George have numerous descendants but in the interest of brevity, I will skip those and restrict this page to the descent of our James Nicholson and his wife Elizabeth Gray. James and Elizabeth (Gray) Nicholson had three sons, Thomas, Benjamin, and James (our ancestor) born in 1684 who also married an Elizabeth Gray in 1714.She was the daughter of John Gray. James and Elizabeth Gray had at least two sons, Benjamin and James (our ancestor) born in 1716 and married Ann Davis in 1745. James and Ann Davis's children were Archibald, born 1746, James, born 1748, and Nathanial,(our ancestor) born about 1751. Nathanial Married Mary Harris and they had seven children.Harris, born 1760, Britton, born 1762, Alahjar, born 1763, Urbane, born 1764, Lucy, born 1765, Polly, born 1766, and Nancy, born 1768. Britton (our ancestor) married Molly Harris and are known to have had seven children who survived to aulthood and had familes.In order of their births are Greenville, Martha, Harris, Lucretia, Nathaniel (our ancestor) and James A. Nicholson all born in North Carolina and Mary born in Tennessee. Nathaniel married Eliza Davis and because of a tragic accident, he was killed by a falling tree when he ws in his late twenties or early thirties at the time about 1833, they had only one son John D. Nicholson. John D. Nicholson, born about 1830, died 2 Nov 1915 married 11 Mar 1850, Winefred Hunter, born 6 Mar 1833, died 19 Dec 1880.John D. Nicholson and his first wife, Winefred Hunter, had eight children as follows:Mary Elizabeth Nicholson, born 1851, died 17 Aug 1917, Nathaniel, born about 1854, died 1936, John Thomas, born 1856, died young, never married, Robert Abner, born Dec. 1859, died 1917, Cooper W., born 28 Feb. 1866, died 30 Oct 1896, Dee Wallace, (my ancestor) born 1869, died 1953, Cord, born 1870, died 1949 and Belle, born 1872 and died Mar. 22 1947. John D. Nicholson married secondly ______ Sanders.By her he had five daughters. Lillian Mae, Mattie, Minnie, Jo, and Clara. My Grand-Father, Dee Wallace Nicholson, born 27 Dec. 1869, died March 1953, married Mary Alice Herald, born 1879, died 10 Sept. 1960.They had thirteen children as follows: Pauline, born 22 Feb. 1899, died 21 Jul. 1961, Cooper Walton, born about 1900, Mary Bea, born 19 Aug 1902, died 2 Jun 1975, John D.
