I am researching the family of Robert Nicholson, born in Surry County Virginia in 1629 and died in Charles City County about 1670. He was of Scottish descent but his father, George, was born in England. I do not know when he arrived in this country but he married Sarah Lee in 1653 or 1654. He died in Charles City County, Virginia about 1670. I have a great deal of information that I would like to fill in and, or course, I will share all the information that I have.
Robert and Sarah had three sons, James, our ancestor born 1654, Robert, born about 1660 and George, born in 1666 all in Charles City County, Virginia. In 1676, James Nicholson married in Surry County, Virginia, Elizabeth Gray, daughter of Francis Gray. In 1683, his brother, Robert Nicholson married Mrs. Mary Gray, widow of John Gray. In 1688, his brother George Nicholson married Mrs. Mary Bird, widow of Thomas Bird. Robert had a second marriage to Hannah _____ and a third to Mrs. Joanna Joyce Flood, widow of Henry Flood.
