* The family of Robert D Nicoll*

Updated March 20, 2002

My research began only in 1999 when visiting cousin Karl in California. Our fathers were very close brothers and had on many occasions endeavoured to establish links with their past generations, mostly without great success.

Our discussions on that vacation led us to the Mormon Temple nearby San Francisco where we were given an insight into the field of genealogy. What a wonderful source of information we were able to gather from that visit, and it had the effect of sharpening our desire for more facts re our ancestors.

I personally began to take the matter seriously, and with the help of other organizations in Glasgow and Edinburgh including the LDS.I began to break through some of the barriers confronting my father and uncle. Obviously computers were not available to them.

The end result is here, although I still would like to know what happened to two of my ancestors, namely James Nicoll born Ireland in 1811, married Agnes Hunter born 1815 and who had a son Robert Nicoll born 1833 and who married Margaret Dick born 1842. Robert died 1915 and Margaret died 1926.

The other missing link is a James Nicoll born 1879 in Girvan Ayrshire who went to London in 1900, married, had two daughters called Lily and Doris. This is all I have to go on. Can anyone help?
