Generation No. 1

1. PETER5 TATUM (PETER4, NATHANIEL3, UNKNOWN2, UNKNOWN1) was born January 27, 1741/42 in Virginia, and died August 1791 in Wilkes Co., GA. He married REBECCA HOWELL 1765 in Virginia, daughter of JOHN HOWELL and SARAH PARKER.

Folio 264   Will of Peter Tatum
To wife Rebeccah, land whereon I live, a large number of slaves,
house hold goods, cattle, horses, etc., for life, final division to my
eight childr en.   To son Howell 200 acres where he lives.  To son Epps a
bounty of 287 1/ 2 acres on Richland Creek in Greene County.  To son Peter
another bounty of 2 87 1/2 acres on Richland Creek.  To daughters Rebecca,
Nancy, Polly and Sally Tatum, three slaves each at 18 years of age.  To
son Thomas three slaves, 30 0 acres bought of Wm. Green and known as
Greenland, one still, etc., and the land whereon I live at his mother's
decease, when he is 21.  Wife Rebeccah and son Howell, Excrs.

Wife Rebeccah to raise my five last children and have the use of their
slaves till they are 15 years old, then to be hired out until they are
18.   Five last children: Rebekah, Nancy, Poll y, Sally and Thomas.

" and affection which I have and do bear towards my loving grand
Daughter, Rebeccah Tatum of Maclinburg County have Given and Granted and
by these Presents do freely Give grant & confirm unto the said Rebeccah
Tatum and her Heirs lawfully begotton of her own body for ever one negroe
Girl name Fann (now living at John Howels, Father of the said Rebeccah
Tatum, wife of Peter Tatum] and her Increase to be her and their own
proper negroe or Negroes from henceforth and forever but if the said
Rebeccah Tatume Decease without lawfull Issue then the above mentioned
Negro e & her increase I hereby give unto my loving son William Parkers
children, to be Equally divided amonst each of then their Heir and
Assisns forever without any manner of Let Trouble & Molestation or denial
of me the said John Parker my Heirs Executors, Administrators, or Assigns
or any other person, or persons whatsoever In Witness whereof..."
** note: a negro slave named Fan was left to Rebeccah Tatum in her
husband, Peter Tatum's Wilkes Co, GA will, 1791 (with Fan and increase to
be at her daughter, Rebeccah's disposal until said Rebeccah (this is
Rebeccah's daughter of same name) reached age 18. Other slaves left to
Rebecca (wife of Peter) were: Jane, Agg, Judah, Hannah and Jane.
