I promised to one day write down my memories regarding our family before I lose my memory and spend the remainder of my days talking about "what could have been."

During the early years of my life I was always interested in family and family history. My Grama Nicholson would go on for hours about the past and Aunt Annie made sure that the Nicholsons got together every June for a family reunion. It was through this event that I was able to keep track of my many city cousins who ventured out to the Webber homestead for a day of fun on the farm. Each year varied, however, you were always guaranteed a great time, while others required medical care for accidents which occured during our so called games. Who could forget Uncle Tom who spent considerable time organizing the people into a large circle simply to play "pass it on", Not a great game, but remembered. Aunt Annie used to say "we didn't have much money, but we always had fun.

A few years ago a distant cousin Mr. Spence visited our reunion with a very large hand constucted chart of his family tree and a book he had written. More recently another distant cousin sent a CD of a family tree on my wife's side and one day while surfing on the internet I found a family tree under the name of "Black" which provides a huge record of family on my Fathers side of the family.

One of the most exciting ways of exploring family is to shuffle through a shoe box of old photos and to often find photos which have already been lost to memeory. Grama and Aunt Annie have already joined the heavenly choir above and much of the appeal of a family reunion is gone. It is my desire to share what I already know, what I may find and in someway perserve the precious storys of time and look back to a time when family was all you had.

I am sure I will edit these thoughts as time goes by.
