The Fox/Simmons/Poore/Livernash/Babeu Family History
This is a genealogy search for the family and ancestors of the Fox and Simmons families who lived in Little Rock and Monroe,Arkansas, respectively.I began this search out of curiosity about my 'people' and continue it out of a happy addiction to the process--the hunt!It is an addiction I do not intend to overcome! Family names found in this family history include: BABBEAU, BABEU, BOUCHER, BROWN, ENGLEMAN, FEIRSER, FLESCHNER, FOX, GIROUX, GUICHON, HEARNE, HEROUX, HOHL, HUCKABEE, HUCKABEY, HUCKABY, JEROME, JONES, KLAUER, LIVERNASH, LIVERNOCHE, PATENAUDE, PATENOTRE, POE, POISSANT, POOR, POORE, POUPARD, POUPART,REAVES, REEVES, RICHARDSON, ROTH, ROY, SANNER, SCHULTZ, SIMMONS, YVERNAGE, and many many others. The STATES where family members were found to have lived are:Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorada, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and others. Other places of origin are La Prairie and Trois Rivieres, Quebec, Canada; La Rochelle, France; Dublin, Ireland;Limerick, Ireland; Eltville am Rhine, Germany;and Bavaria, Germany.Oral family legends claim ancestry from Wales and Scotland, though this has not yet been documented. ************ "The past is the key to the present and holds the key to the future."Ehrhard Rostlund ************ Only by knowing about the past can we truly know ourselves in the present."Who we are" is much more than the sum of the parts of our genes, places, people, social networks, and history. While we can never truly know these ancestors who played such diverse and dynamic roles in our family's past, we can try to fill in the details and context of their lives and times. We can add texture and dimension to their lives and their stories, and in-so-doing, add immeasurably to our own. I have been fortunate in finding a great deal of information from distant cousins, using the Internet. My thanks to theseindividuals for their generosity in sharing their treasure troves of family history.Likewise, any information YOU may have and are willing to share would be greatly appreciated. In sharing what each of us has learned about our family's genealogies, perhaps we can connect the dots--or rather, the lines--that ultimately connect ALL of us in the Family of Humankind.According to some genealogical experts, we are all no more than 50th cousins--or 50 generations removed from humanity's common ancestors. The more we learn through genealogical research methods AND through the incredible promise of DNA (the GENOME project), eventually the 'ties that bind' will be be greatly claried. As a result, knowing "Who we are" takes on more meaning than just to us as individuals and families. It poses the question, how important are our tribalistic and nationalistic differences upon which so much hatred and murder is based, when the truth is, when we hate the Other, we're really hating ourselves?Wouldn't it be nice if genealogy--and gene--research contribute to making ethnic/tribal slaughter obsolete?!One can only wish. The search for "Who we are" will only grow as data shared via the 'informaton tree', feeds and grows the human 'genealogical tree.'The branches of that tree truly support the weight of all mankind. I look forward to exploring what we learned together. Sharon Fox Nichols August 9, 2003 (Updated Feb. 21, 2010) Please email Sharon F.
