Searching for the connection to the home land of Scotland where Alexander Stewart 1747-1823 and wife Elizabeth were born, area unknown, they married about 1767. Several children were born in Scotland and a couple in Hadley, Saratoga Co., NY.
They arrived in Hadley 1788 (accourding to the Saratoga History Book of 1880.) Their children were John, David, Charles, Neal, William, James, Nancy(Stewart)Wilson, Betsy died 4yrs old the first to be buried in the town Cemetery named Stewart cemetery, and son Daniel (the one who gave the account stating they came from Scotland) was the first born in the town.
Alexander's grave does say reveloutionary soldier but nothing was found in the NY Archives.I believe he had a brother Allan and another relative Cornielus for they are in the 1790 census with him all in seperate dewellings.
