I am researching the Nightingale family of Lancashire England.
Benjamin Nightingale, the eldest son of Edward and Elizabeth (Oddie)Nightingale, was born at Grant's Town, Ramsbottom, Lancashire, England on the 20th of September 1837.
At the age of 22, in 1859, he left England and sailed for the United States, remaining in Montreal, Ontario, for several months, when he came to the state of Vermont. After a year and a half he located in Oswago, Illinois, where he met and, in 1865, married Margaret Griffiths.
