This original handwritten document reads as follows:
"This memorandum of agreement made the 25th day of April 1870 between Hannah Vinton as school-teacher of the one part and W. P. Cole, R. E. tilton and John Mankins as school-directors of sub-district - No. 1 Dunham Township, Washington County, Ohio of the other part--
Witnesseth that said Hannah Vinton agrees to teach the public schoolf of said sub-district for the term of 12 weeks commencing on the 25th day of April 1870 for the sum of twenty-five dollars per month and that for said services properly rendered said W. P. Cole, B. E. Tilton and John Mankins as directors as a foresaid are then and there to certify in favor of said Hannah Vinton for the amount of wages due her as ascertained by this article of agreement-
