| I have compiled this information over the past 25 years from a number of sources, both written and verbally - all much appreciated. Fergussons, please read Pams letter, but all others can go directly to the bottom for info/pictures. ############################################################## Letter from Pam received May 24, 2008 As you may have already heard, some of us from the third generation of Robert and Maggie Fergusson have been discussing another Fergusson Family Reunion for 2009. This letter is to let you know the plans to date so that: 1.your families can plan their holidays at that time . . . and 2.you will have an opportunity for input into some of the planning – but not the work!. As you recall, the first two Fergusson Family Reunions were held at Camp O’Neill on Round Lake in 1978 and in 1986. Because it was considerably more expensive than Camp McKay, the rest of the Reunions have been at Camp McKay. Unfortunately for us, Camp McKay has become the property of the First Nations, so it is no longer an option for us. Bonnie Bevan and I looked at some of the other parks available in Saskatchewan, and there seems to be few alternatives in the Rocanville area. We wanted to hold the Reunion in 2009 as we are losing more and more of the second generation (as well as a few from the third and fourth generations). When we contacted Camp O’Neill, there were very few times available to us.There are no long weekends available for either 2009 or the next year, so we decided to make our own long weekend! We have booked Camp O’Neill for the weekend of August 13, 2009. (Some who have a computer may wish to go on the camp’s website at www.camponeill.ca . We have the facility from 6:00 p.m. on the Thursday until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16th. (We wanted to keep the 3-day timeline as it gives us a better chance to visit.) We do plan to continue with the communal meals since that’s part of the fun – working with some relatives we don’t see very often – or some we haven’t yet met. There will be more details to come. We are planning to keep the cost of attending as low as we can– especially for families in the fourth and fifth generations. We will let you know those details later. For now we have one request for anyone who feels they can help out. Because the cost of Camp O’Neill is considerable more expensive than Camp McKay, we would greatly appreciate donations towards the rental cost of the camp. As I am in the process of moving to Rocanville this summer, my address details are changing. As Bonnie (Florence’s daughter) is overseeing the Fergusson bank account, please send any contributions to her at: Bonnie Bevan P.O. Box 92 Carievale, SK S0C 1P0 Please feel free to contact her if you have questions at (306) 482-3814 or by e-mail at bbevan@sasktel.net . My present phone number is (519) 443-6814 and e-mail is pam.botterill@sympatico.ca Many thanks – and we’ll see you in August, 2009! Pam |
