Frank Nockels imigrated from Sandweiler, Luxembourg in 1857 at the age of nineteen, through Port of New York. Herman Westermeyer imigrated from Siddinghausen, Vuren County, Westphlia, State Germany through the Port of New Orleans. John Henry Kalen imigrated from Bitsburg, Ferchweiler, State, Germany through the Port of New York. Ferdinhand Meis imigrated from Paderhorn, Germany through the Port of New York. The families eventually settled in the northeastern part of the State of Iowa. The families begin farming in the area and later on became envolved in business and community leadership. The families are now spread across the entire fifty states.
History is a flickering lamp, stumbles along the trail of the past,trying to reconstruct its themes, to revive its echos and kindle with pale gleams the passions of former days.
