Youngest of 7 children, 2 boys and 5 girls. Oldest and youngest were boys. "Thorvald OLSON born Nov. 19, 1844 in NORWAY. Died Oct. 6, 1915 age 70 yrs. 10 mos. 17 days from cancer. He had 1 brother, the oldest, and 5 sisters, and he was the youngest. He came to Eau Claire at the age of 20 -21 yrs. old to try new land. He was the only one that came. He met and married Maren Andrena OLSON (no relation). They lived in Eau Claire a few years, 3 children were born there, Josephine, Theoder Olie, who died at age of 6 wks., and Clara. Then they bought a farm in Drammen and moved there and started farming. Later owned by their son Henry, now owned by grandson Thorwald OLSON. He was a true church member and held many church offices. He was a true believer in God. Mother told me if he doesn't go to heaven, nobody will. Just before he died he put his hand up and pointed up and said, "Home." (Hjemmet" in Norweigian) and died. Like my mother, she couldn't talk towards the last, but she looked at me and then looked up so weak as she was she told me she was going home too.
