Notes for John L. LARSON: "I met my husband-to-be at a clean up for a picnic in some trees across the road from Albert Simonson's. My Aunt Clara JACKSON introduced me to him. He was sitting by a tree resting and he said," I'm too lazy to get up." We started going together Jan. 18, 1923 and were married July 25, 1923 at the Norwegian Lutheran Church parsonage in Mondovi at 11 am. Witnesses were PALMER LARSON, the groom's brother, and Delia KILDE (WOLLUM), my cousin. Rev. E.A. Norson performed the marriage. We took a short wedding trip. We stayed overnight at John's aunt Louis and Anton Freng, south of Osseo and then on to La Crosse to visit my cousin Merlin G. Richard for a few days, then to my aunt Josephine and Uncle Engebret A. KILDE overnight. Then we stayed at John's folks for a week and then we went back to my Uncle Henry's. I worked for him and John worked at home. Then we rented the old Louis Whitworth house across from Fred Harms farm. We stayed there till the next fall when we left for ND and worked for my folks for about a year. Then we came back and bought eighty acres from R.B. JACKSON and started farming from 1926 till 1965 when we moved onto the present 2 acres site. Built a home, started Oct. 26th and we moved in Feb 11, 1965. Had 14 in. of snow fall that night and hard wind and we had no radio, no coffee or coffee pot, only 2 small kettles, no sharp knife, so we were in the Bible times, had to break the bread. We were snow bound till the afternoon. We had dinner and lunch at Lawrence's. Lawrence and Lloyd THOMPSON moved us. Alf Nygaard was our contractor and one of the best. He lives in Eau Claire. Thanks to Haaken OLSON for advising us about him. John was on the church board for many years. He was president of the Luther League when we got married. May years on cemetery board, 27 yrs on school board and 45 yrs agent for insurance co. So he had his hands full besides the farming. Baptized "Johannes" in Pleasant Valley Church." Mrs. John L.
