- Obidah, son of James and Elizabeth (Erwin) Edge (16 KB)
was born on 18 March
1819 in Georgia. He first married Nancy L. Edge on 05 October 1842 in
Floyd County, Georgia. they had three children. Nancy died on 07 June
1847 in Floyd County, Georgia at the age of 31. Obadiah married Rhoda
Russell Smith on 05 October 1847. He and Rohda
had 13 children.
At the time of his enlistment he lived in Gulf Hollow near Coal City,(now Wattsville) in St. Clair County, Alabama. He 44 years old and had 13 children when he enlisted. He was a farmer before and after the war. He applied for
a pension on 17 July,1890, stating that he was wholly unable to earn a
support by reason of partial paralisis, caused by overheat severl years ago.
Obadiah died January 8, 1894, he was a member of Primitive Baptist
Church, in St. Clair Co. and is burried in Pope's Chapel Cemetery near Coal City.(now Wattsville
