The Norvell Family of Williamsburg

I am descended from Thomas Norvell through Captain Hugh Norvell of Williamsburg. I have information on nearly 9,000 Norvells and their descendants' lines. In 2006, I completed the revision of my book, The History of the Norvell and Related Families. Anyone interested in this volume on disk in an adobe pdf form should contact me. The book is no longer available in print. There is no charge for the disk, but I would ask you to share information on your Norvell line.

My great grandmother Mary Dean Redfield Norvell, the mother of Hamilton Redfield Norvell, was a direct descendant of John Alden and Priscilla Mullens of Plymouth and the Mayflower fame. I have extensive information on the Alden lines and descendants also.

Below you will find my lines from Thomas Norvell, through Captain Hugh Norvell to Lt Lipscomb Norvell, a Revolutionary War officer of the Virginia Line, my great-great-great grandfather. There is also a report on Oliver Norvell Hardy, of Laurel and Hardy, and information on William Walker, the Dictator of Nicaragua, son of Mary Norvell and Grandson of Lt. Lipscomb Norvell.

I have also included a tree for my wife, Bonnie June Irwin Norvell of her lines back to the Hennos, French Huguenots who settled in Connecticut in the 17th century.
