The will of William G. M. Campbell of Davidson County, Tennessee, dated 30 December 1868, probated April Term 1870, is transcribed as follows [Davidson County TN Will Book 21, pages 494-495]:

"The last will and testament of William G. M. Campbell of Davidson County Tennessee.

"I hereby revoke all wills by me heretofore made.

"I devise and bequeath to my wife Minerva Ann The tract of land upon which I now live, containing by estimation one hendred and six acres including the mansion house and all other buildings and improvements upon said land to her and her heirs and assignees forever. Said land is bounded on the South by the Lebanon Turnpike, on the East by the land formerly belonging to my sister Mary E. patterson, on the North by land of George Washington, and the West by land formerly belonging to William B. lewis deceased. I also give to my beloved wife all the stock, farming utensils, household and kitchen furniture and other articles in the house and on the farm, with the privilege of getting water from the Spring on the tract of the 32 1/2 acres adjoining the house tract.

"The other tracts of land are in front of the Mansion House containing thirty-two acres and one-half on the South side of Lebanon Pike, one other of about one hundred acres on Mill Creek on the West side of Lebanon Pike, one other tract on Mill Creek of thirty-five acres called Cedar Lodge on the East side of Lebanon Pike, and another of five acres, a wood lot on Mill Creek adjoining Dr. Hadley's wood lot, also my interest in the land formerly belonging to my sister Patterson of whom I am one of the heirs. As to all of these lands, a portion of them I wish to be sold for the payment of my debt by my Exectrix hereafter named. The balance I wish to be equally divided among my five children Michael, Sally B., Cordall A., William G. M., and Carrie M. with this exception that the three youngest children are to have seven more acres of land of average quality and value than the two oldest, and my daughter Carrie is to be educated and maintained out of my estate until she becomes of age and land is to be sold if necessary by my Exectrix for that purpose.

"I hereby appoint my wife Minerva Ann sole Exectrix of this my last will and testament and request the Court to allow her to qualify without giving security as she has my confidence in her prudence, integrity and judgment.

"In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand this 30th day of December 1868.

            /S/ W. G. M. Campbell

"Signed and published as his last will in presence of

            F. B. Fogg

            Alex. Mackenzie"

"State of Tennessee Davidson County Court, April Term 1870.

"A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of W. G. M. Campbell dec'd, was produced in open Court for probate and proved thus: F. B. Fogg one of the subscribing witnesses thereto being first duely sworn deposes and says that he became such at the request of the said W. G. M. Campbell in his presence and that he verily believes he was of sound and disposing mind and memory at the Time of Executing the same. Ordered therefore that said paper writing be admitted to record as the last will and testament of W. G. M. Campbell dec'd. Whereupon Minerva Ann Campbell, The Exectrix named in said will, in Court here gave bond in the sum of seventy-five thousand dollars, there being no security required of her and qualified according to law.
