Michel Accault (also known as Ako, Acau, Dacan & d'Acau) "Rene Cavelier-Chevalier born 1626 married Isabelle Peschevinet"

He was 52 years of age at this time in 1678
he was known as a voyageur & coureurs-des-bois of the woods\

(Died 1702) Michel Accault moved to Quebec in 1673, seven or eight years after he had left France for New France. In the spring of 1678, when "Rene Cavelier, sieur de La Salle", received authority from the French King to "...work at discovering the western parts..." Michel Accault accompanied him on his expedition to extend the borders of New France south to Duluth.
On January 5, 1680, the La Salle party arrived at Lake Peoria where they built Fort Crevecoeur.

On February 29, LaSalle sent Accault (because he knew the languages and customs of many of the local tribes) and Antoine Auguelle (Picard du Gay), who were later accompanied by Father Louis Hennepin, down the Illinois River and up the Mississippi.

On April 11, Accault's party met a party of 120 warring Dakota which took the Frenchmen to their village at Lake Mille Lacs. Father Hennepin was rescued in July, but Accault stayed with the Dakota.

By April 19, 1692 Accault had become rich enough to buy a half of a fur trade business.

OEL LANGLOIS, JR., DIT TRAVERSY:
!Seigneur de Port-Joly

!This data from Errol Langlois(I received this from Rick Traversy 6-Sept-1998): says that more than thirty-six French men and women with the name Langlois came to live in New France under the French regime; twenty-six men and ten or eleven women. Some went back to France. Seven family lines were formed by those that decided to remain. Only five of these family lines continued into the twentieth century "Your Ancient Canadian Family Ties" By Reginald Olivier lists, I think, the heads of the seven Langlois family lines that came from France. They are: (1) Noel Langlois (1606-1684) married Francoise Garnier then Marie Crevet, (2) Honore Langlois dit Lachapelle (1632-?) married Marie Fontonnier, (3) Rolin Langlois (1640-1665) married Marie Chauvin, (4) Jean Langlois (?-?) (not Noel's brother) married Madeleine Gomond, (5) Nicolas Langlois (1640-1721) married Elizabeth Cretel, (6) Germain Langlois (1645-1749) married Jeanne Chalifour, (7) Jacques Langlois (1648-1702) Married Marie-Therese DeLessard.

Noel was baptized on 4 Jan 1652 in Quebec, Province of Quebec.

!11 Sept 1997 Dolores Grau brought picture of marble plaque: HOMMAGE A NOEL LANGLOIS DIT TRAVERSY premier signeir de Port Joly de 1677 'a 1686 decede' a Giffard le 9 Octobre 1693. (additional from Dolores Grau Sept 1998) The town of Beauport rendered homage to a pioneer and gave the name of a park; in his memory in 1984, by the Association of "Langlois of America". When the daughters of the ancestry founded the families with the colonies of the names of Pelletier Vachon, Chevalier, Cote and Minville.

!Ce Noel prit part a l'expedition de M. de La Barre, il etait Capitaine des milices de Beauport et fut le premier seigneur de Port-Joly.
