3. JOSEPH (PETTERSSON)³ NORDSTROM (PETER² JOHANSSON, JOHANNES (NORDSTROM NO LAST¹ NAME)) was born 12 August 1826 in Gallstad, Sweden, and died 29 June 1910 in Claire City, Roberts Co., SD. He married SOPHIE (JOHANNA SOFIA) ENGLUND 19 August 1851 in Saxared, Gallstad, Sweden, daughter of NILS ENGLUND and CATHRINA NILSDOTTER. She was born 10 January 1826 in Rannavag Larsag, Gallstad, Sweden, and died 22 October 1913 in Claire City, Roberts Co., SD.

De Hade sonen Otto Bernhard f 1870: Gallstad och Dottersonen Axel Robert: Gallstad. Sonen Otto Bernhard fly hade till Delsbo, Gavleborgs Lan 1889 och de ovriga utvandrade till Amerika 1892.

Gallstad is located about 60 miles east of Gothenburg. The farm they
lived on until 1886 (Saxared Norrgard) is located about 3 miles east of
Gallstad. Saxared Norrgard is about 1/8 of a mile east of Saxared
Sodergard. The last farm (Stenkulla) they lived on is less than a mile NW
of Saxared Norrgard. He departed from Gothenburg, Sweden on May 27, 1892
for the United States. Was accompanied by Sophie, Otto, Agnes, and Axel
Robertson. The June 1, 1895 census shows Joseph and Sophie living with
his oldest son, Ray, on a farm near Dassel, Meeker County, Minnesota. In 1898, they moved to another son's (Herbert) farm near what is now Claire City, South Dakota.

Notes for NELS PETER NORDSTROM:
Emigrated to the United States. Arrived in the port of Halifax in July of
1884. The May 1, 1885 census shows Nels living with his brother Ray on a
farm near Dassel, Minnesota. Applied for citizenship on November 3, 1888
in Pope County, Minnesota.

The following was in the May 20, 1892 edition of the Glenwood Herald:

"May 18th.--The funeral of Nels Nordstrom occured here on Monday. He
formerly had lived here, but this spring had gone into business at
Brooten; not feeling so very well there, he had recently gone to St. Paul
for treatment and a surgical operation was advised. Now this operation
was not considered at all critical, and had generally been performed with
perfect success; still it proved too severe for him, and after a very
short time, he became unconscious."
