Phyllis,

When I searched the parish records of Quebec, I thought I'd searched ALL the
parishes on the north shore from Ottawa to the Atlantic. I was wrong.
Somehow, I missed L'Enfant Jesus parish, Pointe-aux-Trembles, Ile de
Montreal. As it turns out, that is the parish where Andre and Nicolas were
born and baptized. When Suzanne was going through the 1880 U.S. census for
Vermont and New York that I sent you both, she discovered Andre and Nicolas
and matched them up with two of the same name in the family of Joseph
Gravel and Clemence Duval. We are certain that these two are the same
Nicolas and Andre as in the U.S. Moreover, Suzanne had a burial place for
Nicolas in Vermont.

If you go to family group #67 at your web site (Joseph Gravel - Louise
Lecours/Lecroix), you will find a son Joseph born in July 1775. He married
Clemence Duval and is the father of Andre and Nicolas. See the attached
report. The report, by the way, should tie in many of your stray Gravels in
northern New York and Vermont. And, I think I can also tie Jean-Baptiste,
another son of Joseph and Clemence Duval, to a John Gravel family that lived
in Essex County, New York, but I'm still working on that one.
