Yes, Steve. Alvin is my second cousin. We are working together on
our McCoy family line. I will send you the 1850 Fayette County census
for Archy McCoy living next to Benjamin Dennis.
You will see, Steve, that Dwelling 84 is our ggg gfather, Arch McCoy,
born 1825 in SC. He is married to a Nancy Dennis, born also about 1825.
Dwelling 85 is Benjamin Dennis, the father of your Benjamin Dennis.
He was 56 in 1850, which means he was born about 1794, a likely candidate to be
Nancy Dennis McCoy's father.
The Benjamin Dennis you sent me information on is 14 years old in 1850, born
1837, son of Benjamin Dennis, age 56. Then Dwelling 86
is a William Dennis, 21, probably an older son of Benjamin Dennis Sr.
The information you sent me mentioned Savannah Georgia.... and
Fayette County was formed from Cherokee, I believe and others. I just
wondered if you had hunted Ben Sr. in these other places.
This is how I have interpreted the census.. Probably my previous message to you
was confusing. If I am wrong, please forgive me and set me straight. I have been
known to make mistakes quite often...LOL
