Notes for Hans Jacob Brodbeck:
NOTES: Baptized Dec 12, 1697.
Hans Jacob was a linen weaver at Muttenz and was probably
still living when his son, Adam, left for America in 1748. When his wife,
Anna, died in 1747 she was identified as the wife of the linen
weaver and Adam was identified as his son in the records concerning his
emigration. Hans Jacob was not referred to as deceased in either record.
No death record for him can be found at Muttenz. It is strange that
Hans Jacob remained at Muttenz after his son left, since his wife was
deceased and he had no other children. (Source: Vol 1 of " From the Rhine
to the Shenandoah" by Daniel Bly).
