Deceased Name: MARY ELLEN NORTON DOGGETT Mrs. Mary Ellen Norton Doggett, 92, of 6100 West Friendly Ave., died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at her residence.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Doggett was born in Raeford, N.C. on April 25, 1908, to the late William and Harriet McInnes Norton. She attended Raeford High School, UNCG and the Kings Business School. Mrs. Doggett was a member of West Market Street United Methodist Church, the Guilford Battle Chapter of NSDAR, Historical Book Club of NC, Cherokee Chapter Daughters of War of 1812 and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Doggett authored two books, The Norton Family History in 1992 and The Lambert/Lambeth Family of North Carolina in 1974.

Survivors include two children, J. Taylor Doggett and his wife, Audrey Wellner Doggett of Greensboro and Mary Doggett Wilkinson and her husband, Henry A. Wilkinson of Charlotte; three grandchildren, James Wellner Doggett and Julia Suzanne Doggett, both of Greensboro and Ellen Wilkinson Proctor and her husband, Frank Edward Proctor of Hong Kong.

Mrs. Doggett was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Doggett; four sisters; and six brothers.

The family will receive friends at the home of her son, 3608 Starmount Drive in Greensboro.
