| This research focuses on the family of Eugene A. Nuelle and Sophie A. Hug, of St. Louis, MO. The Nuelle family reaches back to the 1600's in the region of Osnabruck, Germany. The Hug family stretches from Auenheim and Mulhouse in Alsace, France, to Lucern and Appenzel in Switzerland. I have some, but little, information on how these ancestors came to the United States - especially St. Louis and St. Charles, MO - from early to mid 1800's. Amazing how a little piece of data helps to solve a mysteries. And what of other Nuelle families already established in St. Louis, MO by that time? What connection was there that brought them together? Grandpa Joseph Hug settled in St. Louis, but other members of his family went to the Oakland, CA area. What brought each to their respective new homes? And why so far away from each other? Many other questions abound. Any comments and information are welcomed. |
