| Bernard Robert Nueske came to the United States from Germany in 1892, and married Ina Elisabeth Wilkinson in 1915. They lived in the area of Chicago, Illinois. They had a total of eight children: Bernard Robert, who died in childhood; William Alfred, Ina Elisabeth, Dorothy Ann, Clare Florence, Walter Arthur, Frederick Ernest, and Robert Albert, all of whom lived to adulthood. Only Walter and Robert are still living. We are aware of other families with the name of Nueske in the United States, and also of families who spell the name "Nuske", all of whom undoubtedly had a common ancester living in Germany, in the not too remote past. Or maybe it is remote. The Wilkinson family is a large one. Our maternal grandmother, who was born in 1860, remembered, as a child in Ohio, being part of a gathering of people at the railway station, who wept as they watched a black draped train pass slowly westward through town. She married Hiram Wilkinson, and they had twelve children, including several sets of twins, one set of which was our mother and her sister Anna, born in Van Wert, Ohio. The family later moved to Chester, Illinois. We are interested in the history of both of these families, and also Batchelder, Weil, Peres, and others, and will be pleased to pool whatever information we have. |
