The Nugent relatives are in Rapides Parish and Grant Parish, Louisiana. We would like to trace back to Ireland. I have visited Ireland and found a Nugent castle in Delvin. There is a lot of local Grant Parish genealogy on the Liberty Chapel Cemetery web site that is linked from this page.
My parents are the Halbirt family from Ohio. There are records on Halbirt family relatives that trace back to the 15th century.
Sarah Bowman Hann is the author of the genealogy book on "The Nugent Pioneers of Central Louisiana" that was published in 1985. A few copies of this book are available from David Nugent at (318) 776-5761 at $20 plus shipping.
