The John Spranklin Family and Descendants

I am researching the family of John Spranklin that settled in the Baltimore, Maryland area and the Yonkers, New York area. The first John Spranklin was born in 1798 according to a Family Bible and his wife's name was Susannah. His son, also a John Spranklin married Mary Mead. They had 3 sons, John James, Charles Wistar, and Edward Mead. My family is descended from the John James who was a veterinarian and settled in Baltimore, MD. He had 9 children, 7 daughters and 2 sons. He is buried in Loudon Park Cemetery along with many of his children and his mother.
His sons were also veterinarians and the legacy has passed on through the grandsons and grandnephews.
I believe that the family is from the Dorset, Alf Puddle area of the British Isles and may have settled in Philadelphia first. Any help would be appreciated.
