The Obertubbesing Family of NY and Jones Family of AlbanyUpdated November 3, 2008 | |
| This site contains information about the families in the United States of America from which I come: the John Henry Obertubbesing Family and the John E. Jones Family. It is the result of efforts by myself and my brother, George H. Obertubbesing to gather information about our family and its origins. About 20 years ago my older brother George began researching our family history. A lot was done at that time, but then the research took a back seat to the hectic pace of life. I have also done bits and pieces of searching through the years, but life always seemed to get in the way. I have recently began focusing once again on exploring, researching and learning about the Obertubbesing family and the Jones family in the United States, and that renewed effort has led me to create this site. The Jones on my mother’s side of the family have lived in America since Colonial times. Our roots on my father’s side of the family find their origin in the lands of western-northwestern Germany that formerly were part of Prussia. We are the descendants of a young man who came to America at the onset of the immigration wave that engulfed America from the 1800’s through the mid 1900’s. While the research done by my brother and I has uncovered connections and people we never knew existed, we have not in the past taken the next step – contacting the people our research has found to obtain additional information about them and their families and to let them know what it is that we have found. Just as we have been excited to learn of relatives that we never knew existed, I suspect that you - having found this site - also would be interested in knowing about your “long lost” relatives. This site and our family tree remain works in progress, as does any family tree, being subject as it is to changes that occur on almost a daily basis - births, deaths, marriages, and so on.
