Clara Shannon Method was very superstitious. She believed that a girl whistling was bad luck. She lamented her own double wedding believing that one couple would prosper and the other would have hard times. She always believed their family never prospered. During lightning storms, Clara would get the children out of bed to sit near the open front door until the storm passed, believing that if lightning stuck the house the open door would allow for escape from the home. Clara loved to read and experience the nglish Royal Families. She followed their ups and downs and felt quite drawn to experience their lives vicariously. Clara was known to be a warm and loving woman who would never send anyone home without something in their arms, like cream or butter or eggs from the chicken coop.
