James Lunney grew to become a well respected politician and was the city treasurer for Richland Township. Around 1937, financial irregularities were alleged and he lost both the family farm on Lunney Road and his position as treasurer. He died by his own hands from a gunshot and it was ruled as a suicide. Hemlock. James E Lunney, about 60 of Hemlock died Tuesday morning at his home. He was a former Saginaw county treasurer, had served as deputy register of probate under Probate Judges Murphy and Ganschow and until recently had charge of one of the State Liquor Stores in Saginaw. Mr Lunney was married three years ago. He leaves his wife Catherine M and a sister Mrs. John Wendt of Hemlock.
