August 28, 1896 Derby Bryenton, New Brunswick Dear Brother, Just a few lines in answer to your very welcomed letter and right here let me tell you you are lonesome. I did not mean anything serious when I asked you were you asleep but I wish you had come home and settled and I believe you would have been happier and for work any kind of a good man can get lots of it with fairly good pay. I wish you would not build out there as to my going out, I guess I am looked to never ramble far from home. I attended Lissie Donovans wedding and Pete and I drove around by the bridge and up to Walsh's. Lissie says she never was so happy . You asked me was I any closer I do not know what do you think of it. Would you advise me to go with him. You ought to judge a man better than I could. I like him best around here but still he is far from suiting me . Still, I have went so long with him that I consider him one of my best friends. As to that letter writing, I never believed in keeping up a correspondence when you come again a free man, I will get you a girl that will be love at first sight. I always thought you would come home and settle, what do you think of it now. Rosa O'Neil is home and Agnes Hogans, Sadie Clark was married to a Mr Ryder from Bloomfield ridge, she had a lovely time. I was up to Indiantown picnic and I had a good time. I also look in the Millerton picnic after dark. I have not been down to Uncle Wills this summer, but they are all well. Lizzie and Kate Doran are both home just now. Annie still goes with Jack. Both of the Kingstore girls are still working well. I saw them last week. We were up on a blue berry excursion. I only wish you were in it. I will tell George Bell to write when I see him. Will Bhas gone to Camp Bellson and Allan and Charlie Bry. Ella B is quite well and sends love to you. As my paper is getting small I will have to close. I only hope you can read it. Nellie Donovan is quite well and still in the market. Tom Doyle is very low and Ken Underhill. So good bye and God Bless you is the wish of your ever loving sister, Lydia (Lizzie) Write soon besure
