We have been very busy with our business and have not had much time to update and work on our family geneology. But we have come across a few links along the way. Here are a couple...

I have been contacted by another party online that is looking for a Kelly family in Bantry, Co Cork, Ireland. Her family left much later than our family but the tie that seems to bind the two families together is that there were 3 sets of twins by the one couple in each of our families! This seems like it is our strongest evidence so far. We complied our family info and sent off letters to all the Kelly's in the Bantry area, but did not get any response. We are still holding out hope that there is someone who knows something.

We have also been in contact with Micheal Grattans family which is suspected to be my Great Great Great Grandmother, Kathryn Grattan's brother. We shared pictures and I was told that my Great Great Grandfather, Peter Kelly has the Grattan nose that still runs strong in their family.

Unfortunately, I have been very busy and have had no time to put all the valuable information into any form. Hopefully soon, I will get a chance to do this!
This site was last updated on May 3, 2000 with Easy Family trees, easy to read letters, both found in related files section, and two new pictures of Peter and Ellen Kelly, 1890 and Bernard and Mary Kelly) Also a fantastic website with so much community information on Miramichi and its surrounding towns going way back in time! It is based on the Donovan family...Please check it out!!!!!!( see Miramichi surname heaven)

This site contains almost 1200 names. It also contains letters written around 1896 from the Miramichi area to Thomas in Minnesota. If your family is from this area, check out the letters, since they contain a lot of "community News" in them with many names!(see related files)

In 1826 the Kelly family started a new life in New Brunswick, Canada. Philip Kelly came over from Bantry, Cork County Ireland with his brother, Patrick (m. Bridget Lockman)and several family members which are still unknown. His Wife Katherine Gratton arrived in New Brunswick from Queens, Cork County Ireland in 1830 with her family members. (Her father is believed to be Peter Grattan and she has a brother named Michael)The two met and married and lived in the Miramichi area. Their son Peter Married Ellen Fitzpatrick of Chatham, NB and gave birth to Thomas John Kelly whom eventually left the family in Canada some time around 1895 and came to Mora, Minnesota. He met a young Swedish woman, JoHanna Caroline Sell and married. And that is how the story of this Kelly family starts!

I found some very exciting information the end of March, 2000 and have gone from 200 names in my family tree to almost 1200 names in two weeks! This summer my family is planning on going out to New Brunswick to a Huge Kelly reunion to meet our lost family members! If you think your family remotely sounds like ours, please email me, for I would love to chat with you about it!

Surnames include...Kelly, Grattan, Gratton, Fitzpatrick, Breen, Colepaugh, Donovan, Dunovan, Sullivan, Greene, Barker, Sell, O'Byrne, O'Brien, Cobb, Black, Hogan, Jimmo, Donahue, O'Connell, Doran,McKinley, McCafferty, McCarthy, harrigan, Sauntry, just to name the main ones!

The most common places for our family were in New Brunswick, the Miramichi area, Minnesota, Washington, Oregon and Maine...but also Arkansas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota, Michigan and some stray places along the way!
