The Oby family has it's roots etched in Virginia soil. All research to date indicates that we started somewherearound the Blue Ridge Mountains around the early 1700sand migrated southwest from there. Large factions of thisfamily reside in Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma. There arecertain items of information that link all three together. In our research, we have found that the family was originallycalled Lenior, by virtue of the fact that Ms. Elzy Oby copulatedwith a frenchmen by the name of Andre Lenior. Although the twonever married, the two sons born of the union carried the nameLenior. The family seemed to use the names Oby and Leniorinterchangeably, they appear to have dropped Lenior around thelate 1800s. |
