Marriage Notes for Maria Birrane and Michael Callaghan: According to Fr. Christy Byrne of Lawrencetown Presbytery Parochial Houses and Shamus Curley of Kiltormer, is all of the following: Witnesses were Daniel Ryan and Catherine Battle. Michael "Colahan" was a commercial traveler in tea. Maril was otherwise known as Maria and Mary. A Matthew Colahan supposedly married Eleanor Birrane or Berrane. Matthew and Eleanor were born in the 1830s or 1840s. Brendan Hardaman also married a Birrane sister. The Colahan family was associated with Mothers Pub for 10 or 12 years. A Colahan recently(2002 or so)asked about the Birranes. Brendan Hardaman was a second cousin to Maureen O'Callaghan O'Halloran. So was Bridie Kenny a second cousin to Maureen O'C O'Halloran. Brendan Hardaman's grandmother was a Colahan and the aunt of Danny Colahan, who was a first cousin to Jack(John) O'Callaghan. Callaghan's land in Eyreccourt was divided up by Cunniffe and Curley, Cunniffe of Cunniffe Electric in Terryland shopping plaza on edge of Galway City(Noel Cunniffe). An O'Callaghan married a Cody, from whom a love child was born, Mansy Callaghan, and raised in Lawrencetown by Codys. Child was originally "outside the blanket," but O'Callaghan or Callaghan later married the Cody. In the 1960s or so, Mansy was over 70. He never married, was didled, and muscled out of his land by the Cunniffes and the Codys. Bridie's mother was Breeda Kenny. Bridie said she was the oldest in the village in the 1830s. The O'Callaghans were related to the Cooneys in Killimor and in Banaghe. Patrick Callaghan married Anne Kenny and had children John(b. May 21, 1836); Patrick(b. December 16, 1838); and Mary (b. August 9, 1841).
