The Thompsons of Indiana

Updated November 21, 2006

Lynn Ochs

I am researching the Thompson family from Indiana. W.C. Thompson first appears in the 1880 census, but I don't know where he was before that. He married Racheal but her last name and the year of the marriage is unknown. Marion Monroe (Sr.) was (one of their children) born in 1868 in Virginia.

In addition, I'm researching the Gibson family (wife of Marion Monroe Sr) of Indiana. I have to give credit to David Masterton who began this research and had a lot to do with leading me in the right direction. I have managed to research the Gibsons and families back to the 1500's in England.

Specifically, I'm trying to find out where W.C. Thompson came from and his parents. No one seems to know what W.C. even stands for. No one remembers them being talked about or photos of him or his parents.

Just to give you a few statistics: I have gone back 19 generations which includes 97 different surnames. The earliest birthdate is Richard Gould in 1479.

I must give a sincere thnx to David Masterton, Jerry Allee and Dick Thompson for sending me pictures to use in the family tree. Another big thnx to those that helped me with the much needed corrections or additional family information.

Although I am nearing the end regarding research, any additional information or pictures would be greatly appreciated. I would love to go back much further, but with the data I have - it is impossible to go back more. This has been very interesting.

Any corrections are still welcome and very much appreciated! If I'm going to do all this work, I sure want the family tree to be accurate.
