The Robert Ochs Family Home PageUpdated September 5, 2000 |
Surnames that I am currently researching are OCHS, SPERRY,THOMPSON, BOYD, STONE, BRIGGS, RESSLER, FRYE, SCOTT, BAGGERLY, MCKINLEY, and ADKINS. I have focused on the OCHS, MCKINLEY, and BOYD lines because the family stories relating to them are most intriguing. My McKinley heritage begins with James McKinley from Scotland in 1690. From his branch, President William McKinley was born. My line actually branches at the generation of President McKinley's grandfather, James Stevenson McKinley. His brother, John McKinley, was my 4th great grandfather through his son John Jackson McKinley, granddaughter Mary (McKinley) Ressler, great grandaughter Clara (Ressler) Ochs, 2nd great grandson Ralph Ochs, 3rd great grandson Jack Ochs to me, Robert Allan Ochs, his 4th great grandson. My Ochs heritage is traced back to Heinrich Ochs and Barbara Weber from Prussia. Their son, Henry Ochs and family, immigrated to the United States in 1883 having sailed from Amsterdam aboard the SS Leeerdam. They resided in Enterprise, Kansas until the late 1880's before eventually settling in Kansas City, Kansas. Newton Boyd was my great grandfather from my mother's side. He was born in Oblong, Illinois and moved to Lee's Summit, Missouri around 1900. His daughter, Zella (Boyd) Thompson was my grandmother. |
