My interest in genealogy began with a quest to find information about my grandfather, Donald Cameron Ogden, of whom I knew very little.I didn't know his middle name until four years in to the search.Unfortunately, my curiosity about my father's father didn't materialize until many years after my father's death and at the time my mother was suffering from Alzheimer's and was not much help before her death a couple of years later.Occasional surfing of the internet finally paid off when I came across "The Ogden Family In America" written in 1906 by William Ogden Wheeler.I obtained a copy of this massive gold mine of information from Tuttle Antiquarian Books of Rutland, Vermont and began to trace my ancestry all the way back to my first American ancestor John "The Pilgrim" Ogden who first set foot on American soil at Southampton, Long Island in 1640. This amazing book also described a direct line for me all the way back to Robert Ogden (Oakden) who lived in the mid 1400's. Alas, there was not much discussion of my grandfather, except that he was raised by his father's intimate friend Donald Cameron, after whom he was named, a U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania.I still do not know when my grandfather was born, what his occupation was, or when or where he died.
