Notes for J
AMES O'HARE:
To the left of Ann Lennon O'Hare grave stone is one marked: In memory of Ann Quinn, Maiden name O'Hare, Native of Parish Newtownhamilton, County Armagh, Ireland..She died December 17, 1882 at age 74 years. That puts her at being born Abt. 1808. This would indicate she was the older sister of James. She was married to Michael Quinn and had at least 4 children one named Elizabeth born Abt 1832, Mary Ann born Abt. 1834, Arthur born Abt. 1838, Hugh born Abt. 1840 all born in Pennsylvania. This was derived from 1850 census.

Shadraeh Lord was the first settler in New Philadelphia. It was incorporated in 1868. Charles tanner was burgess in 1868 & 1869, James O'Hare in 1870, P.J. Kelly in 1871, John Haggarty in 1872 & 1873, Michael Whalen in 1874 & 1875, W.H. Mc Quail in 1876 & 1877, L.Ennis in 1878,1879,1880.

It is said that when the O'Hares lived in Canada, One of the babies(Bernard or Felix) was kidnapped by Indians. He was later traded for Irish whiskey. I knew it was good for something. This was a common practice by Indians at the time.
