Notes for Mabel Lucinda Bullis:
As a child, Mabel worked hard with her parents on their truck farm to eke out a modest living during the Great Depression. She was very popular and was chosen Queen of the North Country while a senior in high school. Mabel attended Plattsburgh Normal School (now SUNY/College in Plattsburgh), and then taught school in Elmore, VT 1939-40. Upon marrying, they lived at various time in Brooklyn, NY (apartment business), as well as Miami, FL and Alexandria Bay, NY (US Customs). During WWII, they moved to Rome, NY (Rome Air Depot). After the war, they moved first to Bellevue, PA and then to Greensburg, PA, where they raised their three children. Mabel taught Nursery school for two years, and then taught Special Education for 26 years.
