He married SARAH STONE^8,^9,^10,¹¹ March 29, 1770 in Brookfield, Worcester Co., MA ¹², daughter of JOSEPH STONE and SARAH POTTER. She was born April 09, 1752 in Brookfield, Worcester Co., MA, and died May 20, 1833 in Champlain, NY.

Notes for JOHN HAMILTON:
A John Hamilton appears in the 1790 census in Hebron, Washington, Co., NY. However, a more likely match is the John "Hambleton" listed in Wells, VT in 1790, near Elias "Dewry". To be determined. A "John Hambleton" is listed as having sold his rights as a Revolutionary soldier to Bounty Land in Chazy to Wheeler Douglas in 1792. John appeared on the 1800 and 1810 Clinton Co. census records, living in Champlain. The Hamilton Estate was Refugee Lot 102, which includes the location of current Duda house and southwest portion of the Bullis farm, where his son Elias settled. He was a mortgager in Aug 1, 1799, with Benjamin Mooers, mortgagee. Hurd lists both John Hamilton and J. Hamilton (could this be son Joel?) as physicians who started their professions in Champlain.
