Pokeshaw O'Hearn, Whelton, Madden, Murphy, Ahern & Salter's
The "O'Hearn" family of Pokeshaw,NB. Canada, had settled land in New Bandon around 1832. The name was once Ahern, also spelled A'Hern, Aherne, and O'Hern. There are three main families of Ahern settled in the same area,(New Bandon, Black Rock & Pokeshaw) they must be related somehow although I cant find a conection in Canada. My grand mother's father is Oliver Henry...he married a Sophie Venno. Oliver is supose to have a father or a brother 'Felix Henry'(from Tedigouche). They lived on the old Mirimichi road by Bass River, South of Bathurst NB Canada. French Canadains. Why they came to Bathurst, away from their faimly, I dont know. Also to...McGillvery, Rachel Agnes.b.1865 GL.NB. Canada. Her father was Donald McGilvery b.NS or NB. somewhere. He married Lydia Bateman , b. 1831GL.NB. Canada,(who's mother, Lydia may be Native American. She married William Bateman.), they lived at Bass River, east of Bathurst NB Canada. Also my Mom is a WHELTON...Any desendents of Bartholmew (Bat) Whelton who maried Johannah Hurley from Kinsail parish, Irland, who imigrated from Irland around 1824, please contact me!
