Arlene Edith Olander, Laskowski/Killian, Mandl/Schmalz Family Site*I'm researching my father's family: Walter Martin Laskowski*I'm researching my mother's family: Margaret Mary Mandl*I'm researching my son's father's family: Gilbert OlanderAll three families lived in Chicago, IL in the 40's or before. The Walter Laskowski family was originally from Mielec, Poland (about 35 miles from Crakow) and came to the US around the turn of the century. My paternal grandfather's name was Martin and his father's name was Felix. Felix was born cir. 1858.My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Katherin Killian. The Margaret Mandl Laskowski's family was originally from the Germany/Hungury area, St. Ana, Hungury. My maternal grandfather's name was Stefen Mandl. His father's name was Leopold and his mother's name was Ann.My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Anna Schmalz and was born October 18, 1883. Her father's name was Wendel Schmalz and her mother's name was Margaret. The Gilbert Olander family originally were from Sweden, and if my memory serves me right it was Stockholm. Gilbert Olander's father's name was Felix and his mother was (I believe) Margaret. Both lived in Chicago in the 50's. I'm not sure when the Olander family came to the US.My son's grandfather's name was Gilbert but he was always called John. He was born around 1915 in Chicago. He had a brother Nels who lived in Janesville, Wisconsin and a sister named Mildren who lived in Chicago. If you are part of any of these families, please contact me.aolander@fidnet.com
