My grandmothers grandfather was named Gaspar Flores.He was one of the early Mayors of San Antonio when Texas was still under Mexico.He was also the Land Commissioner for the Mexican State of Coahilla which included what is now Texas.
He supported the annexation of Texas from Mexico.He wanted it to be its own country.He worked with Steven F. Austin and Sam Houston to achieve this goal.
He was on his way to sign the Texas Declaration of Independence with his friend Navarro when he got ill with the fever.He was taken to a friends home in Nacodoches where he died before he had the opportunity to sign the declaration
