Juan De Olivares came to nuevo Leon with Diego Rodriguez ABT 1618.He got a citation on June 7, 1624 from Diego Rodriguez fo helping with the hostile indians in Cerralvo Mexico.Juan De Olivares' ranch was named EL RANCHO DE SAN ANTONIO. It was located at Pescaria Chica Lake.He also had a Hacienda which he called Magdalena where he grew wheat.When he became a soldier, he had no capital or influence, but he was a good soldier as witnessed by the citations he received during his service.He raised to the rank of General. He uncovered mines and worked them profitably.He was granted his land by the then Governor Zavala in 1635.He built a dam and canals, but he accidently built it on his brother-in-law's (Alonso Trevino) land and as a recult of a suit, lost the Dam and the canals on July 4, 1656.He did getwater rights from lake Pescaria Chica to irrigate his wheat at his Hacienda Magdalena.He was the first man to grow wheat in the new world.He died on October 20, 1669 and is buried in the catherdal grounds in Monterrey.He had a house in Monterrey which he gave to Juan Bautista Chapa who married Beatriz, his daughter.Juana, his wife, died July 2, 1693
