Notes for Maria Concepcion Resendez:
Maria Concepcion Resendez Falcon, better known to all who knew and loved her as "Chonita",was my mother mother's sister. When Clara died around 1918, my mother's father Teodoso Aguilar could not support all of his children. He therefore let the youngest of the children be adopted by his in-laws.My mother was taken in by Maria Concepcion Resendez at the age of 4 years old.I always thought that she was my real grandmother until I was about 18 years old.Around 1958 my mother told me that she was not my real grandmother, rather she was really my great aunt and that she had taken her in back in 1918 when she was only 4 years old.I loved her with all my heart. She was a strong lady. She was married in 1895 and had a son in 1898.Both her husband and son died in 1900 from fever caused by some decease that I gather from discussion I had with my mother was smallpox or measles. She never remarried. She lived by herself in a 2 acre farm she had in La Casita Ranch Texas. Her ranch was the most Easterly 2 acres of land out of Share No 60-J which was part of the Mexican/Spanish Land Grant PORCION 88 of the Ancient Jurisdiction of Camargo Mexico, now Starr County Texas. When she died, my parents sold the little farm to Jose Montalvo and his wife Maria Valadez Montalvo, and the sale is recorded in Volume 261 pages 330/331 of the Deed Records of Starr County TexasAs a point of interest.Clara's and her mother, Anastacia's second husband was Alvino Falcon.Chonita's husband, Juan Falcon was the younger brother of Alvino. He was 18 years younger then his brother Alvino. Therefore, you have mother and daughter married to two Falcon brothers. They can be found in the 1900 Census for Starr County Texas pages 82B and 83A.
