The Olivares name has been honored, revered, respected, feared and at times hated throughout history.Throughtout history they have been Noblemen,Statesmen, Warriors, Writers, Musicians, Priests, City Leaders, Law Enforcers, Farmers, Pioneers, and sometimes, persona non grates. The Olivarez Family of Spain, Portugal and later the Americas descended from an illustrious and Noble Warrior heritage and originated in Cabado in Transmiero in the mountains of Santander in Castilla. The chronicles of Garcia Carraffax states" this last name began in Germany and its beginning in Spain was by a Nobleman who came to Spain to help King Don Enrique II (King Richard II) from Castillo in the wars against his brother Don Pedro I, El Cruel (King Peter I the Terrible.) His writing goes on to state,"..and the Olivares caused great morality among the Moors who had trespassed without invitation and refused to bow to their betters." "And may all these be accused who fail to honor in everlasting remembrance the worthy deeds of valor which were achieved by these Christian Olivares Knights against the pagans." The Olivares Cavaliers were Conquistadores of the New World and their descendants, like myself, reside throughout the Americas. During the past eight years, I have done extensive research and have benefitted tremendously from the rich information I have gained about the Olivares' and the other families that have married into the Olivares family. NOTE Much must be credited to the distinguished family of Alicia Olivares Garcia,(living), her grandfather Sr. Roque Garcia Olivares (1872 - 1935) and his cousin Isaac Pena Olivares (same era) and last but not least Sr. Jorge Olivares Guerrero. They did most of the Garcia - Olivares research dated after the 1800'sIt can be found in a booklet that they compiled and titled "RAICES, TRONCOS, RAMAS Y RETONOS. I hope that in reviewing my Olivares Family Tree, you will find that your family intersected through marriage with my family and are helped in your own endeavors to develop your own Family Ancestry. I am reminded of the saying, "You cannot really know the future unless you know your past." Zacarias Joel Olivarez |
