ARAH OLLIS:
Sally (Sarah) was called Barbary through her adult life in Christian County, Missouri and her gravestone says Barbary. When I (Sidney Chamberlin) ordered her death certificate, it came back as Sarah. She died October 1, 1915 as a result of a fall down the cellar steps.

WILLIAM AND BARBARA OLLIS HARVILL

William and Barbara Ollis Harvill came with seven children to Christian Co. in 1850's. They were from Harlan Co. KY. They had three more children in Missouri. According to the 1900 census they had 10 children with two not living. They lived in a log cabin that was moved log by log, to Swann Creek in the Keltner area.

William died July 1879 63 years in Pierce City MO. while visiting probably son, Riley. He is buried there. There is a story that Barbara drove the wagon back home in the snow with her small children. This can't be true, he died in July and their last child was 19 years old. It is possible that she had grandchildren with her.

Barbara known as "Granny Harvill" was little bitsy wisp and a little bit of a character. Another story told was, after William died she lived among her children. Wanting to give something to the next home she'd take something from the home she was leaving. The children soon got wise accepted the gift. Then they would return it back to the owner, she never knew. "Granny Harvill" was also a mid-wife. She delivered many children in the area. Granny loved and knew herbs, she used them as medicine. She fell down the steps when she was living with her daughter, Rebecca and Jacob Burkhart in Chadwick. She had an injury to her spine causing her death on Oct 1915. Her death certificate says "Sarah" 9l year's 11 months 6 days old. She is buried in the Old Boston Cemetery east of Oldfield.
