I found all of James Henry Ollises children's headstones at McKinney Chapel Cemetery yesterday except Julyann. Mexico is buried at Cana Cemetery. Julyann is probably buried at McKinney also. The old section of the cemetery where several of the Ollises are buried has a lot of unmarked sandstone rocks. Here is a list of the dates and names, as written, I found on the tombstones:

James H. Ollis 1837 - 1880
Julia A. Ollis 1841 - 1926

Peter Ollis The dates were hard to read, but it looks about the same as Kay had.

James Henry Ollis and both his 1st and 2nd wife. Dates are the same as Kay had Instead of Jimmy Earnest, the headstone read "Earnest M son of J H & Lucinda Ollis Oct 9, 1887 July 18, 1896 "

George & Lovey J. was the same as Kay had except had 1951 as the yr. Lovey died. Next to George & Lovey's stone was a Ida Burns. Believe this to be their daughter b. April 22, 1889 d. Mar 17, 1973. Her spouse was Harvey S Burns b. Nov. 26, 1878 d. Nov. 27, 1958. Nora Ollis b. June 3, 1891 d. Aug. 20, 1968.

Clarence Ollis b. 1901 d. 1935. Right next to where Clarence is buried is Florence Ollis Cadle b. 1901 d. 1966. I don't know how she fits in. But her and Clarence have the same birth yr.

Monroe Ollis b. Jan 31, 1871 d. Aug 31 1959. Next to Monroe was Ray Ollis b. Apr 3, 1896 d. June 30,1958. Between Ray & Monroe was Infant Pansy Ollis. Did not see where his spouses were buried.

Minnie S Ollis b. Feb 4, 1877 d. June 30, 1944. Her spouse J. Farmer Kelley b. Nov. 15, 1869 d. Sep 19, 1940. Next to their stone was William E. Ollis b. Sep 23, 1899 d. June 27, 1973 and his spouse Girtha (Minnie & Farmer's daughter) b. Mar 9, 1900 d. Apr 18, 1977. Next to their stone was Wendell L Ollis (probably William & Girtha's son) b. Apr 11, 1924 d. May 1, 1973 and his spouse Barbara b. Feb. 2, 1926 d. no date.

Basco Ollis b. Sep 17, 1879 d. July 4, 1958. His spouse Mabel b. July 25, 1880 d. Feb 14, 1957.


On the old part of the cemetery where all the sandstone markers are, there are some Ollises but the names and the dates are very hard to read. At the base of a big Oak tree, there is a small marker that has Kisiah Ann Williams b. May 4, 1847 d. Dec 22, 1927. Could be Daniel Ollis daughter called Kizzy Ann. One old sandstone had John Bell Son of John M and Mary E Ollis b. March but I can't read the rest and I think it was Bell. It was very cold yesterday and I didn't spend a lot of time trying to decipher what was on the stones. I hope this helps and I'll mail the articles on Mexico this week.

I have some wonderful news. Kay might already have this, but I went back to McKinney Chapel Cemetery today to look at some of the old sandstone headstones that had dates and names carved
on them. It was a sunshiny day and the sun cast a shadow across the names and standing a few feet back, the names and dates jumped out at you. I found one that said: Mary E Ollis the wife of John W. Ollis. There were no dates written on on this one. I also found one that had: Julia A Ollis the daughter of J H & July Ollis Born on either Jan or Feb 25 AD 1875 Died July 11 or 19 AD 1893 Age 17 y 5
mo 14 days. This must be Julyann Ollis, which means all of James H. & Julia Ann Ollises children are buried at McKinney Chapel Cemetery except Mexico, who is buried at Cana. Also directly behind James Henry Ollis & Julia Ann Ollis grave is a headstone that has David Jackson Died May 1865(I think it is a 5) Aged 59 yr. This must be Julia Ann's father.

I have a question for Kay. Is it possible the Mary G. Ollis that is buried right next to Peter's grave is the infant daughter of James & Julia Ann's. I noticed that you have an infant being born to them in your last entry for the family. Mary G.'s headstone read : Mary G Ollis D. Sept. 5, 1864 Aged 1 yr. 6 mo. 25 d. There is about 5 yrs. between Peter and James Henry II. After James, the parents had children
every 2 yrs. So Mary G. would have been born right between Peter & James II. It's a thought. I was unable to find a death or birth record for Mary G. at the Johnson Co. courthouse. This is all I have for now. If I can be of help, let me know.

I need to correct myself from yesterdays message. The info on Julia Ann Jackson, I got from Mexico and Minnesota's death cert. and not birth cert. Minnesota's name on her death cert. is spelled as 2 names----Minnie Sota.

Julia Ann was a born PARKER. She was married a JACKSON before she married an OLLIS. That is one of the sources that I didn't get entered before I pack the books. It will be late April before I get back to the pack material I just have what's on the computer and the old ringer binder that I had started with. The notebooks are what's packed. And that's where the good stuff is. I got it when I was in Williamson & Johnson counties last summer.

I have some wonderful news. Kay might already have this, but I went back to McKinney Chapel Cemetery today to look at some of the old sandstone headstones that had dates and names carved
on them. It was a sunshiny day and the sun cast a shadow across the names and standing a few feet back, the names and dates jumped out at you. I found one that said: Mary E Ollis the wife of John W. Ollis. There were no dates written on on this one. I also found one that had: Julia A Ollis the daughter of J H & July Ollis Born on either Jan or Feb 25 AD 1875 Died July 11 or 19 AD 1893 Age 17 y 5
mo 14 days. This must be Julyann Ollis, which means all of James H. & Julia Ann Ollises children are buried at McKinney Chapel Cemetery except Mexico, who is buried at Cana. Also directly behind James Henry Ollis & Julia Ann Ollis grave is a headstone that has David Jackson Died May 1865(I think it is a 5) Aged 59 yr. This must be Julia Ann's father.

I have a question for Kay. Is it possible the Mary G. Ollis that is buried right next to Peter's grave is the infant daughter of James & Julia Ann's. I noticed that you have an infant being born to them in your last entry for the family. Mary G.'s headstone read : Mary G Ollis D. Sept. 5, 1864 Aged 1 yr. 6 mo. 25 d. There is about 5 yrs. between Peter and James Henry II. After James, the parents had children
every 2 yrs. So Mary G. would have been born right between Peter & James II. It's a thought. I was unable to find a death or birth record for Mary G. at the Johnson Co. courthouse. This is all I have for now. If I can be of help, let me know.
